What is the AMC System?
Renault Premium with AMC System fitted
The AMC (Air Management Control) System is an electro-mechanical system that allows HGV tractor unit roof spoilers/air deflectors to be set at the optimum angle to match the height of the trailer being towed to maximise fuel economy.
The kit consists of a pair of operating rams to adjust the deflector position, a small amount of electrical wiring and a bulkhead mounted operating pad.
The AMC System can be fitted to most vehicles with manually adjusted roof spoilers. For trucks that don't have a spoiler already fitted, we offer a complete Air Management System incorporating the AMC System.
The position of the deflector is set by the driver using a simple push-button control box, safely from ground level.
Factory fitted deflectors can also be made to go higher than originally intended by fitting the AMC High Lift Kit.
When the vehicle is running solo without a trailer the air deflector can be easily set to the lowest position to maintain optimum fuel efficiency. This also offers the added bonus of allowing the spoiler height to be reduced so that the tractor unit can go through low underpasses, bridges and even low entry workshops and loading bays that normally don't allow access to high-cab tractor units with fully raised deflectors.
A small sticker is fitted to the side of the cab to remind the driver that the kit is fitted and to inform him of the minimum and maximum cab height depending upon the deflector position.
